During the last day we were at the 1996 Easter Jeep Safari at Moab, we were on Hell's Revenge and followed an impressively built CJ-7 all day. The guy was driving with his son and elderly mother in the back seat. They were great people. After the official trail, and not part of the Safari approved trails, a number of us decided to do Potato Salad hill, right below 'America's Most Scenic Dump.'
Just before he attempted the hill, his son and mother got out of the Jeep. After almost making it, he got a little heavy footed at the top and started bouncing. He started to go and there was no way out of it. He did three full rolls. Connie had the 35mm camera and snapped until she ran out of film. MaryAnn had my POS video camera that took a crap 10 seconds before he rolled.
In the fourth photo you can see a couple people running to get out of the way. It was not obvious where he was going to land after rolling the second time. All day long a photographer wanted to get a picture of the underside showing his suspension. After he crawled out of the belly up Jeep, unhurt, his first words were "Where's that photographer, he can get a fine picture of the suspension now!"
After a few hours of work, he drove it out!
