Sometimes you just like to take the easy routes and smell the roses. That's what this trip was all about. Nothing very hard, just relaxing and great scenery. Fins N Things, Strike Ravine, Rose Garden, Flat Iron, Kane Creek - all scenic. Come to think of it - all the trails are that way. Oh well. The second week we were up at Dead Horse and got snowed on. That was neat. We then went to Grand Junction and looked around there as a possible retirement location. We did get up in the snow on Grand Mesa and the next day took a nice drive on the Little Book Cliffs before they closed off a big portion of that. Again, not a lot of words with these, I'm putting this page together a couple years after the Safari.

Lions Back is always a kick. The first time up I did about an 18 point turn. Steve kept saying, back up a little more as I was negotiating the turn. " Uh-uh! " This year was much better. |

On to Wipe Out Hill. No problems here. |

Who says photography is easy. Here's MaryAnn, laying in the middle of the trail and looking like just yet another obstacle, all ready to get a great photo that never happened on Strike Ravine. We were all too busy watching a Suzuki break both front springs instead. |

Next up is Rose Garden, a really scenic drive. On the way back, it was late afternoon and the sun was setting along Onion Creek. The colors in the canyon walls were amazing. Of course, some of this trail may be lost also. |

As our week of scenic driving came to a close, we headed up to Dead Horse for a few days. A storm came in and dumped about 5 inches of snow. It was really pretty. This photo kind of presents the eerie quality one morning. The clouds were low and it was foggy with snow all about. It was strangely beautiful. |

And if this wasn't enough snow, we then headed out to Grand Junction to see if that would be a good place to retire or not. We wound up on top of Grand Mesa in, what else, but snow! And here ends another fun, and very relaxing, trip to Moab for another year. |
