Pittsfield - 2000

Another " interesting " year: trail building, several UFWDA Awareness courses, our picnic and the 4x4 Blast .

Class (16k bytes) The year started out with Two Rivers' first UFWDA Awareness Class. This class was upgraded from the stock UFWDA course and was tailored specifically for TRJC. Go here to see what we did. So far over 100 people have attended the course.
The first work weekend we went out with Doc who tried to cut a 2' diameter tree with a very dull chain saw. Great entertainment! Steve, on the first obstacle, found that his new V-8 had more power than the driveshaft could handle. Again, more entertainment. Doc opened up Possum Pucker Hill (say that after a few beers....) and while it doesn't look steep, it would make a possum pucker! After that, I did the 'Plunge of Stupidity' which wasn't very stupid - at least this time of the year. Possum Pucker (17k bytes)

Here's a series of shots of my first roll during the 4x4Blast. Others had gone up the " Latrine " on Mongo so why not me? I nailed it a little too hard at the top and as the front started to go up and over (yup, an " endo " ....) I tried to reach for the shift and get it in reverse but wasn't fast enough. Next thing was to tuck in and hang on to the wheel. Don't remember much, it happened so fast, but when it was done I was on the rubber facing back down the hill I started up!

When I did the " endo " , the front of the Jeep went sideways and hit the side of the wash. That flipped me around and then I rolled a half turn. So I accomplished an endo and a roll all in one " graceful " maneuver, landed on the rubber and drove out with only damage to the hood and fenders. Didn't even break the windshield. Couldn't do that again if I tried!
Roll1 (23k bytes) " I think I'm getting too much air... "
" Yup, definitely too much air!..... "
Roll2 (27k bytes)
Roll2 (27k bytes) " In transit "
" No, this is not a roller coaster at Great America! "
Roll3 (22k bytes)
Roll4 (26k bytes) My reaction when it was over, " Huh! "
A little body work and it'll be good as new. And yes, I had my seat belt on. This was taken after I got in to see if it (and me) would still move on our own power.

Each year we have a picnic. Here's a few photos from this year's. We have a true " Porta-Potty " , ramp fun, the " Pack " and of course, the tip-over challenge.
